Barbara Hunt was born in Ogden, Utah. Though she was not raised with information
about her Scottish ancestry, once she discovered it, she embraced it. Her earliest ancestors were born in Scottish homes. She descends from the MacNeil’s of Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides of the cost of Scotland. A place that has never had more than eight hundred people living there at one time. Her husband’s clan, the MacPhie’s, also descended from that island.
At least until Clan McDonald kicked them out. For each of the last twelve years, she has
volunteered at the Utah Scottish Festival and Highland Games, the burns suppers, and the
tartan ball. She has proven herself by work and spirit.
